Get the insurance conversation started while we are working on the loan. Your agent needs to understand the boat and your plans. Our team will provide the lender's insurance instructions so you do not have to guess what belongs on the paperwork.

Start with the boat and intended use

Give the agent the year, make, model, engines, location and your boating experience. Describe where you intend to operate and whether there will be charter or other business use. An incomplete picture can produce a quote that does not fit the actual risk.

Compare more than the premium

Ask about the insured value, liability limits, deductibles, navigation area, storm requirements, towing and wreck removal. These are questions to resolve against the policy—not a list of coverages every policy automatically includes.

Homeowners coverage for boats may be limited. Check the actual policy rather than assuming a universal dollar limit or that adding a boat is sufficient.

Coordinate the lender information

The closing team will tell you the coverage evidence and lender wording required for your loan. Give those instructions to the agent and confirm the effective date before arranging pickup. A quote, a paid premium and proof that the required coverage is in force are not necessarily the same thing.

If the agent needs financing information, bring us into that conversation. You should not have to guess which name or address belongs on the insurance paperwork.
