Before You Arrange Boat Pickup: A Buyer’s Checklist
Confirm funding, authorized release, insurance and the practical delivery arrangements before scheduling pickup. An approval email alone is not the green light.
You are ready to get on the water. Before you book transport or tell the seller you will be there Friday, let's make sure the closing and pickup plans agree.
Confirm the financial steps
- Has the closing team confirmed that all required conditions and documents are acceptable?
- Are your required funds accounted for, including any deposit already paid?
- Has funding been confirmed, and does everyone understand any seller payoff arrangements?
- Who is authorized to confirm that the boat can be released?
Ask these questions of the people managing the closing. A seller's expectation or your completed signature package is not a substitute for confirmation.
Confirm the practical steps
- Is the required insurance in force for the pickup and planned operation?
- Who will hand over keys, records and included equipment?
- Is the trailer, tow vehicle or transport arrangement appropriate for the boat?
- Does the marina or storage operator know about the planned arrival?
If something changes, tell us
A different delivery date, missing document, altered price or changed payment instruction can affect more than one person. Bring the change back to the team before acting on it.
This is the final stretch of the purchase. A little coordination here helps prevent a long drive ending with “we aren't ready to release it yet.”
